Projects Overview
In the 2018-2019 school year, Little Opera's core programming continued to focus on serving students in grades K-6 after-school at West Portal Elementary School in San Francisco. We spent the full school year with four cohorts: The Puccinis (Grades K-1), the Humperdincks (Grades 2-3), the Wagners (Grades 4-5), and the Tchaikovskys (Grade 6).
We piloted two new types of programming this year: a student performing troupe, and a one-week summer camp at the SF Conservatory of Music. A handful of our most advanced students were invited to join the performing troupe and sing solo and in small groups at community concerts throughout the year. We continued our partnership with the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, which generously hosted our winter preview concert, annual benefit concert, and summer camp. During the spring we were joined by two Conservatory grad students, Cristina Lanz and Christina Swindlehurst Chan, who worked both in the classroom as teaching assistants, and behind the scenes on a variety of administrative projects. |
